In recognition of 20 years of service protecting communities and the environment, Citizens for Safe Water Around Badger (CSWAB) is pleased to announce that the organization and its Executive Director have recently received 10 commendations from federal, state, tribal and local government.
In recent months, plaques, citations and letters have been presented by Wisconsin State Senator Mark Miller, Ho-Chunk Nation President Wilfred Cleveland, Sauk City Village President Jim Anderson, Representatives Spencer Black and Steve Hilgenberg on behalf of the State Assembly, U.S. Senator Herb Kohl, U.S. Senator Russ Feingold, U.S. Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin, Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle, and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Secretary Matthew Frank.
CSWAB first began in 1990 as a small group of rural neighbors worried about the groundwater contamination leaving the Badger Army Ammunition Plant. The grassroots organization is now recognized as a national leader on military cleanups, community organizing and environmental justice.
