The Wisconsin DNR recently presented three possible reuse alternatives for the former Badger property which range from “do nothing” to noisy, high-impact uses.  We know we can do better.

We are pleased to report that the Badger Oversight Management Commission (BOMC) – which includes members of local, county, tribal, state and federal government as well as many community stakeholders including CSWAB – has proposed a 4th alternative which provides a great balance of low-impact recreation (hunting, biking, hiking, cross-country skiing, etc.), family activities, conservation, outdoor education (including a visitors’ center) and other fun nature-based recreation.

Known as BOMC “Alternative 4”, the proposal blends the best of the WDNR’s alternatives and places an emphasis on conservation and low-impact recreation uses.  This alternative compliments the surrounding Baraboo Hills, Devil’s Lake State Park, Wisconsin Riverway, and rural agricultural landscape – and provides a big boost to the local economy based in the beautiful place that we live.

Please contact the WDNR with your SUPPORT for BOMC ALTERNATIVE 4 by August 30, 2013.  Comments may be sent to Diane Brusoe, DNR Planner – LF/6, Wisconsin Department Natural Resources, P.O. Box 7921, Madison, WI 53707 or email Diane.Brusoe@wisconsin.gov.
